A Journey Ends

I went out to eat at Olivia with my sisters J and R, R’s husband A, and J’s kids, C and L. It was a lovely time to spend with them after spending the day at the hospital with Dad, J, and R. After eating, we went to Normal with them, and the kids got some candy, J got a pickle, and I got myself a new bronze nail polish.

Wednesday, J and A returned home to Gibraltar. I went to work and a seminar, then spent the time at home to wind down a little.

I canceled a competition I was going to participate in on Sunday. A shooting friend of mine asked on Friday if anyone wanted to go to the range with her. I joined, and we spent some time at the range. If she hadn’t asked, I wouldn’t have gone either. I’m happy I did, though. We had a great time.

On Sunday, as I was getting ready to go to the Munch museum with J, Mom sent me a text saying that Dad had died. I called J and told her and asked if she wanted to join me to see Dad one last time, which she did. We went to the hospital and spent a fair few hours there. It was strange; Dad looked so peaceful; any time I looked at his face, it looked like he was breathing, but he wasn’t. Most of the staff was very nice, but the primary nurse only addressed J when talking with us. Regardless, I was glad I went; it was comforting to see him at peace.

I love you, Dad; I will miss you so much.

After we left the hospital, J and I went to a restaurant called Feniqia in Bjørvika. We had a nice dinner there. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was great. Afterward, we had some donuts from Tailormade, which made a great dessert.

In memoriam, Dad. 11th of January 1948 - 29th of September 2024.
